Call for Submissions | International Womens Day

Ellie Green from SIATC has some exciting news to share….

Myself and Bex Massey ( have just launched a new female fine art specific collective.


1.Aim to promote emerging female artists

2.Run by women for women

3.Create a community to share skills, industry knowledge and own practice

We are VV:

1. Aim to build a support network for female practitioners

2. Run Bi-annual exhibitions, alternative art events, pop-up shops

3.Create exhibition reviews, zines, hype.
That’s lots of ways to get involved…free members forum, promotion to your sites and work, subscribe to mailing list…the list goes on.

Brief: In the run up to International Women’s Day (8th March 2011) VV have decided the time is ripe to showcase some fantastic emerging female talent on our blog. We are calling all female artists to produce a piece of work based upon what International Women’s Day means to you. Simply mail it to VV ( with International Women’s Day in the subject line. Include a brief summary (max 300words) about your practice and a website where applicable.

Deadline for submissions: Get your work to us by the 1st March and we will showcase a selection of work on our blog on the 8th to mark the day!

  1. hello there, it is very pleasing to hear about your collective. Maybe you would like to join us in our exhibition in July 2011. Please let us know if you would like to hear about details. You can email to

    we have the same aims as you do but i found it interesting that you use the word ‘female’ instead of ‘woman’ cause it feels as if we are only here for bearing or something…would be nice to chat.
