FOR BOOKS’ SAKE Presents; BOOKS & BLUES
FACEBOOK EVENT: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=229477747079294¬if_t=event_update
Come one, come all, for an afternoon and evening of live blues music, spoken word and storytelling in the gorgeous beer garden at the Fox – a beautiful boozer with notoriously cheap bar prices.
Featuring live music from…
John Fairhurst: A jaw-droppingly brilliant blues legend, a fingersmith guitar genius, and a songwriter clever enough to enlighten the genre with his own unique baroque style.
Siobhan Parr: Mates with Glen Tillbrook, supported Evan Dando and Jimmy Cliff, South London blues country and folk legend by the age of 20. Siobhan is a songsmith with a haunting voice and a gentle charm who seems to have been there and done it all already.
Verity Flecknell (Storm in a Teacup): “Effortlessly enveloping classic Americana, guttural blues and sweet folk sounds, Verity is a rare breed of performer. Simultaneously theatrical yet utterly without pretence”
And storytelling from Vanessa Woolf from London Dreamtime, and award-winning short-story writer Kerry Ryan. Plus zines for sale from Fat Quarter and Alpha Betty.
Entry is £3, and the first twenty-five will get a free copy of Margaret Atwood’s Booker Prize winning novel The Blind Assassin.
Our Books & Blues event at Chorlton Arts Festival last month was a standing-room-only smash, so get there early to bag the best places…
The Fox is located at 316 Lewisham High Street, SE13 6JZ. A mere five minutes walk from Ladywell BR, or five minutes on the bus from Lewisham BR/DLR.
Thanks to the wonderfully talented designer Elodie Flamant for allowing use of the recycled guitar case image.
