Protest @ First Miss World Contest in London for 23 years

Women – Protest the sexist Miss World contest! Sunday 6 November 2011
Protest called by the London Feminist Network. Supported by OBJECT, UK Feminista, Million Women Rise
Join us in demonstrating against the Miss World contest at Earls Court on Sunday 6 November. Be part of this mass protest and let your feelings about this sexist and retrograde event be known!

40 years ago, feminists disrupted this sexist contest in spectacular fashion, with chants of ‘We’re not beautiful, we’re not ugly… we’re ANGRY!!’ Let the organisers and all those profiting from the event know that we are ALL angry that such an event is once again being held here in London, 40 years later. Bring placards, banners and raise your voice against this appalling offence against women’s equality. Let them know loud and clear that this event has NO PLACE in London in 2011!

Being a woman is not a competition!

Assemble: The Tournament pub (opposite West Brompton tube station – District line, London Overground line; please check for weekend engineering works.)
Time: 2.15pm briefing (protest begins at 2.45pm)

Protest is likely to last around 2 – 2.5hrs
All women welcome.
