Dear Teacups,

August is a HOT month for feminist protest action with UK Feminista & Objects campaign to get Tesco to “Lose the Lad Mags” creating real change within the industry and grabbing headlines – join the protest on the 24th of August outside Tesco Metro on Regent Street. As well as a peaceful protest on Saturday 10th of August in Solidarity for our Russian LGBT family who are suffering discrimination in Russia with new and unfair laws that violently persecute, intimidate and vilify LGBT people. Also this month there are some exciting events happening around the UK-  get involved at the UK Feminista Summer School in Birmingham or join the Revolution in Manchester at the two day music event with over 100 artists involved –  commemorating the 1st year anniversary of Pussy Riot’s sentencing, to appeal for the women’s release, and to celebrate freedom of expression. All profits going directly to Pussy Riot.

If you missed the announcement last month;  “Lets Start a Pussy Riot”  was released via Rough Trade records on the 24th of June. A book created by Storm in a Teacup, Not So Popular, Girls Get Busy and a host of high profile, artist, activists and musicians.  If you haven’t already got yourself a copy, you can buy it for £20.00 at any Rough Trade shop or online – all profits go directly to Pussy Riot. A pop-up exploration of queer, DIY cinema, we aim to showcase short and mid-length work from every corner of our wonderful queer community.
