
SIATC *UPDATE* February 2011
Dear Teacups,
2011 is turning out to be yet another year of female friendly festivities and our plans are fast taking shape for the next few months. Our focus being our appearance at The Southbanks new annual festival: Women of the World and opening up the collective to new members and ideas. Also news about the next issue of the SIATC zine which will be with us this month!
First news about YARNfest 2011; Our wonderful friends at YARNfest short story and storytelling festival have invited Verity Flecknell from SIATC collective to perform at their finale event sponsored by publisher Picador. Join us in a smoky underbelly of the Queen of Hoxton to launch Stuart Evers new book a collection ‘Ten Stories about Smoking’. See the collection of short stories interpreted into film, theatre, music and spoken word by artists including The Strumpettes, Quattro Formaggio, Verity Flecknell (SIATC), The Android Angel and Camila Fiori.

Storm in a teacup are excited to announce our involvement in the first ever Women of the World Festival at the Southbank Centre. A three day festival from 11th-13th of March celebrating the 100year anniversary of International Womens Day.
‘Through a series of debates, conversations, networking opportunities, presentations, showcases and places to meet and talk, Wow – Women of the World celebrates the potential and achievement of women and addresses some of the obstacles that women face across the world. Joining us are leading women across all sectors, and together we explore in depth some of the most potent topics for women today.’ (Jude Kelly, Women of the World Festival Director)
You will need a Saturday or Sunday conference ticket to come along and visit the Storm in a Teacup area where we will be leading some zine making workshops, initiating some networking opportunities plus lots more to be announced in our March update!

Exciting news about the Storm in a Teacup zine Issue 2 : After the success of our first edition, the latest edition of the SIATC zine is cut, pasted and poised to be sent to the photocopier. Featuring contributions from super talented female writers, illustrators, and DIY collaborators, the zine will be out in late February – in time for our appearance at Brighton Zine Fest 2011, where we will be sharing a table with Katie Allen from Fat Quarter Magazine: http://www.fat-quarter.co.uk/.
