SIATC Presentation | Stuart Hall Library zine collection launch

Storm in a Teacup’s Elizabeth Ann Martin and Ellie Green will leading a presentation about our collective at an evening of discussions exploring cultural diversity in the world of zines, self-publishing and artists’ books on the 30th of September at Stuart Hall Library part of the Institute of International Visual Arts.

As part of the expansion of its collections, the Stuart Hall Library is now establishing a zines and artists’ book collection. This new collection will incorporate a wide range of material with a focus on cultural diversity, race, and identity as well as artists’ books produced by international authors and artists.
The event will act as a launch for the collection, providing a space for discussions which will address the history and importance of zines and their relationship with artists’ books, visual art and culture. It will establish the Library as a key resource for zine and art communities.

As well as the chance to explore the collection, the launch event will include three short 15 – 20 minute talks with half an hour for discussion and questions. Speakers are Cazz Blase, zine maker, writer and social historian; Hamja Ahsan, Other Asias, an artist-led initiative challenging contemporary navigations of Asia, and Storm in a Teacup collective, promoting women in the arts.

Reaching out via high speed internet connections, as far-reaching globally as possible, we hope to invite ladies (and gentlemen) from across the world to participate in the Ladyfest Ten exhibition in November 2010. With this project, the journey is AS important as the destination and we hope that the postcard project will demonstrate just how fa, globally, the Ladyfest concept has reached.

Chosen work will be featured at the Ladyfest Ten General Exhibition in November 2010.

What you have to do:

The theme for the Ladyfest Ten postcard project is:
